Which Pool Upgrade Is Best For You?

If you are considering some upgrades for your pool, then there are a wide variety of options available to you. You might want to focus on comfort, aesthetics, or value. To help you decide which upgrades are best for you, here are some of the most common pool add-ons:

Bubblers and Streams

For pure aesthetics, you can't go wrong with a few bubblers and streams around your pool. These will greatly increase the action and activity of your pool without dramatically impacting its usability.

Make sure not to go too overboard, because if you add too many, then you can end up with some pretty complicated piping. The more piping that there is, the more chances that there are for something to go wrong.

Diving Boards

If you want to really up the excitement factor of your pool, then a diving board is a great choice. It can give you the opportunity to work on your form or simply get a rush of adrenaline every once in a while.

Of course, you also need to make sure that you only get a diving board if your pool is sufficiently prepared. It needs to be very deep, but you want to make sure that the deep zone is pretty large as well. A few square feet of 9' deep water won't be nearly enough to save you if something goes wrong, especially if it's surrounded by water that is only 5-6' deep.

Ledges

If you want to add a nice area for rest and relaxation, or simply a means for getting out of the pool quickly, then a few ledges inside the pool can be a great idea. Your main concern will be making sure that the ledges are at the right height and aren't too sharp, because problems in either of those categories can cause some serious mishaps if you enjoy swimming laps in your pool.

Lights

Lighting up your pool can simultaneously be a great way to increase its aesthetics while also increasing visiblity and safety. You can get a wide variety of lights if you want, but make sure that they are positioned in a safe manner. Too many lights or strong lights at the wrong angle can distort the appearance of the pool quite a bit, which could potentially make it hard to see someone that had fallen into the pool.

Waterside Bars

If you are looking for something a little more adult, then a nice bar by the side of the pool can be a great addition. Just make sure that it's properly secured, since you don't want to send the whole thing crashing into the pool if someone accidentally trips in the vicinity.
